Hi, I’m Mary Pat Curran!
I earned my massage therapy certificate from Lexington Healing Arts Academy in Lexington, KY. From 2013 to 2015 I enjoyed working at Stream Point Wellness and in the summer of 2015 I opened Intentional Flow inside Sora Aerial Arts in Lexington.
I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education with Humanities and French minor from Bradley University, in Peoria, IL. During my 13-year career teaching in elementary schools, I honed my ability to listen and empathize with people of various ages and backgrounds.I grew up in Chicago, Illinois and in 2006, moved to Kentucky with my family. After a foray into office administration and care-giving, I fulfilled my desire to become a massage therapist by graduating from Lexington Healing Arts Academy’s (LHAA) 700 hour massage therapy program in 2013. It was here in Kentucky that I also earned my Reiki II certification, which I offer during my therapeutic sessions.
I am licensed by the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Massage Therapists. I look forward to sharing my unique massage style with you to assist you on your journey to wellness and self-awareness.
Starting Points Are Important
The best massage will begin with a starting point or an area of focus! Come to your appointment with an idea of where you want to focus your massage.
Open-Minded, Active Participation
I work best with clients willing to play an active role in their well-being. Ask questions, answer my questions, and be willing to provide clear feedback, so that we can adjust and try new things.
It's A Process
The goal is always for you to feel better when you leave a massage than when you arrived, but a persistent issue won’t disappear after one massage. Massage therapy is a process, and it may take weekly or biweekly appointments at first in order to get you feeling your best!
$36 for 30 minutes | $72 for 60 minutes | $108 for 90 minutes
Based on your pre-massage interview, your massage is customized by utilizing a variety of massage techniques to help you meet your needs. Techniques include Swedish, myofascial, stretches, moving and deeper work.
This therapeutic bodywork involves very light touch and hand placements that allow the body to rest. When you rest, you are able to reduce stress and allow the body to function at an optimal level.
Massage and Reiki
This offering combines the custom massage and Reiki to give you the best of both treatments.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I schedule an appointment?
You have four options to schedule an appointment. You may text, call, e-mail or schedule via Massage Book by clicking here. It is a third-party site and it will create your profile and show you the availability I have. It does the same thing that I do when you call me, but lets you do it on your own. You are NOT able to book on-line for the immediate next day.
What should I expect during my massage?
When you arrive (about 10 minutes early for your 1st appointment) there is an intake and consent form to fill out. We will chat about your expectations, areas of tightness, pain or restriction you are currently experiencing and go into detail with the responses on your intake form. From this interview we will decide what will occur during the massage. During the massage, we will communicate to ensure that the techniques are meeting your needs. At any time in the massage if you need something, please ask.
What massage techniques do you use?
I combine Swedish, myofascial, deep tissue, moving and stretch techniques.
Is there anything special I should do to be ready for my massage?
Come early to your appointment so you are not worried about being there late. Wear comfortable clothes that you can move in, if possible. This insures that if from the pre-treatment interview we decide that stretches are the best for that day, you will be prepared. Communicate with me any changes in your life or body since the last treatment.
Do you offer couples massage?
No, I am only a single therapist. Couples will each have to wait for the other to receive their massage. I am happy to recommend therapists and that do couples massage.
Do you offer Deep Tissue massage?
I do NOT do full body deep tissue massage. I use deep tissue methods for specific areas of need, but it may not be appropriate for your needs.
If you enjoy feeling like a steamroller is driving over you, I am not the therapist for you. However, if you are open to a variety of techniques, some of which do include pressure, then I may be the therapist for you.
Do you offer Hot Stone massage?
No. However, I have recommendations for therapists that do.
